A clean meal, has fewer then 6 ingredients, has no ingredients that are hard to pronounce or list sugar as its main (or top 3) ingredient. It shouldn’t make you feel boated, gassy or lethargic and after slowly and mindfully eating them, they should make you feel full, bright eyed and bushy-tailed!
Again, please be reminded that i’m using the words “clean” and “unclean” for the sake of simplicity. There are better options but no hard and fast rules here. You shouldn’t be filled with fear, dread and regret just because you ate something that you felt wasn’t entirely beneficial to you.
Below is a poster that shows you what food cleaneating considers “clean”. However, i don’t approve of the words “allowed” and “not allowed”. It makes it sound like some sort of restrictive diet. Please understand that it’s OKAY to have an oreo cookie (athough it has no nutrients whatsoever)sometimes, or eat your grandmother’s curry with white rice (so good!). There is no need to kick up a big fuss or hate yourself after. It’s what you do the rest of the time, apart from that one meal, that is going to make or break you. One meal is not going to kill you, neither is it going to make you healthy. Eat clean, because you want to, not because you restrict yourself to it.
