Healthy Living in Singapore

January 1, 2014

January 1, 2014

Just wanted to leave a small note! Had lots of questions coming in recently but I don’t have time to go through them individually so I thought I’d talk about it in one post! 🙂

In my hawker centre post, I must emphasize that my stomach looked like that ‘AFTER’ picture BEFORE the one week hawker food diet. The picture of the flab and the bulge shows mainly water retention (perhaps?) but if you have never eaten ‘clean’ (I use this word loosely because the last thing I want is for you to divide food into permissible and forbidden categories), and have a lot of belly fat to get rid of, 4 days IS DEFINITELY not enough. Trust me, I know, because I used to be 10+kg heavier, eating a lot of junk everyday, battling with binge eating and it took me a year of clean eating and positive thinking to lose it all healthily and keep the weight off. Certainly not 4 days! The point of the post was to show how much water retention and bloating can occur from high sodium food like hawker food and hopefully provide an answer if you are struggling with bloating after eating out as well as to encourage homecooking!! 🙂

Work for me starts tomorrow so I wouldn’t have time to post much but in response to the questions asked I would perhaps post on:

-What I ate during the 4 days to drop the water retention and reset my tastebuds
-My meal planning and prep because I cook only once/ twice a week and bring out all 3 meals + 2 snacks a day.
-A starter’s series to packing food out and learning to modify outside food to make them healthier
-A starter’s guide to food you can prep easily for people who are clueless in the kitchen (^5! I started out like that too! hehheh)
-Healthy food finds/ places I usually go to eat if I have to eat out
-Meal ideas for busy moms with young children whom you want to teach to eat wisely and nourish
-Eating Disorder recovery/ informative posts on what the different disorders actually are
-Nutritional information of certain superfoods to include in your daily diet
-Understanding nutrition and making it personal to meet your daily needs rather than blindly following somebody’s guidelines for ‘health’

So I guess this will roughly be what you’ll be seeing here in 2014! 🙂 In the meantime, if you have any other questions or problems, feel free to continue to email me or leave a comment! I know I reply mails very slowly but that’s because, as you probably know after receiving a reply, that they are very important to me and I take the time to really read through everything you’re struggling with, analyse your diet and offer customized advice. I really do want to help and certainly not undermine your struggle or shortchange you! 🙂
